Lisa’s paintings have been inspired by the natural beauty and light of the areas where she has lived including Colorado, Lake Superior, and Lake Tahoe. Her art background has been in graphic design but she has always painted in watercolor. She is fascinated by the quality of transparency, both in the medium of watercolor and in the subject matter of her paintings.
Lisa enjoys painting the clear waters and beautiful scenery near her and also exploring the translucent nature of crystal and glass, backlit flowers and foliage, and even plastic wrap over fruits and vegetables. Saturated color satisfies her affinity for a realistic style, rich hues, and strong values. She works mostly on smooth, hot pressed paper, which gives more texture to paintings that might otherwise lose freshness.
She has recently returned to the Tahoe area, and is looking forward to capturing the wonderful quality of light there.
