Maureen Mo MurrayLake Tahoe Artist
I was born and lived in Tucson, Arizona, and studied art at the University of Arizona and received a BFA degree in art and illustration. I have a love for working with young people lead to my acquiring a teaching credential in Art Education (San Diego State University) and Special Education (San Francisco State University). I worked as an artist for Harrah’s Casino and Hotels in Nevada, the S.F. Giants and Oakland Coliseum sand most recently as Art Director for The GLOBE Program, an education and science outreach program, sponsored by CIRA/CSU, NASA, NOAA, NSF, Department of State and UCAR.

I continue to work on special projects for CIRA and GLOBE. My travels and working environments have opened up opportunities to live and draw in some of the most beautiful places including the Grand Tetons, Abiqui Ghost Ranch (Santa Fe), Lake Louise (British Columbia), Lake Tahoe, Prince of Wales (Alaska), and the Grand Canyon, Dillion, Breckenridge and Boulder, Colorado and San Francisco and areas of California. In the process I record the details of nature through my drawings. Drawings of Lake Tahoe depict the rivers and valley’s and scenes of the Lake's seasons. Spending time with friends and family offer many opportunities to spend times sketching and painting. I have studied with well-known artists in Tahoe, Sante Fe, and Boulder. Valdin Steha’s (Sante Fe, NM) influence is lasting. His European background and love for bold representation still effects my work. Nature has taught me that each place has its own special beauty and I work to represent that diversity. I love working as an artist and I hope you enjoy these places as much as I do. One day I hope you too will have the opportunity to visit it and see the beauty for yourself.
